(News from Qingdao Daily) Yesterday morning, the deputy secretary of the CPC Qingdao Committee, mayor of Qingdao Xia Geng met with the visiting Belgian Ambassador to China Bernard Piece and his delegation.

    The mayor first expressed warm welcome to the guests visit and briefed them the economic and social development of Qingdao. Xia noted that in recent years the exchanges and cooperation between Qingdao and Belgium in sectors such as trade, culture develop well, the mayor hoped that the two sides could strengthen exchanges and cooperation in more fields to realize mutual benefit and win-win. He hoped the visit of the respectable Ambassador could spur the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

    The ambassador tour of Qingdao is to participate activities held by GIMV Investment Company Asia Board of Directors, visit Qingdao municipal leaders and explore the further friendly cooperation of the two sides.

    By March 2009, 17 Belgium invested projects have been set up in Qingdao, the contract value 13.5million USD, the paid-in investment 11.91million USD.

    Vice mayor Wu Jingjian also attended the meeting.
